The machine name on a hood or sales listing is not always enough to identify an engine part. Equipment can be built with different engine options, and engines may be replaced during the machine’s working life. Identifying the engine actually installed is an important first step.
Start with the engine nameplate
Locate the engine identification plate or label using the operator’s manual or manufacturer’s guidance. With the equipment safely stopped and cooled, take one photo that shows where the plate is located and another close enough to read every line. Do not reach into moving equipment or remove guards merely to take a photo.
Record the full model designation and serial number. If the plate includes an arrangement, specification, family, or build code, include that information too. A suffix can distinguish versions that use different parts.
Keep machine and engine details separate
Write down the machine make, model, and serial number separately from the engine details. If you know that an engine has been replaced or modified, mention it. The engine plate and the part currently fitted are generally more useful for identifying the installed configuration than an assumption based on the machine’s age.
Match the part to the application
Once the engine is identified, record the original part number and photograph the part. Depending on the component, useful differences may include mounting holes, hose connections, sensor locations, pulley arrangement, or electrical connectors. An engine model can narrow the choice without resolving all of these variations.
Include size information when relevant
For internal engine parts, standard and repair sizes may differ. Do not select a piston, liner, bearing, or gasket only by its appearance. Ask the technician performing the repair to confirm the required specification from measurements and the applicable service information.
When a nameplate is missing
Send clear photos of the engine, any stamped identifiers, the old part, and its markings. Include records from previous repairs if available. Avoid assigning a model from visual similarity alone; incomplete identification should be resolved before purchase.
Contact DIESEL IZUMI support with the engine details, original part number, photos, and quantity so the inquiry can be reviewed in context.
